Staying at Hotel Golden Key in Prague, Czech Republic

Prague is a beautiful city with a lot to offer. And while you have plenty of options as to where you stay, it’s all about location, location, location! That’s why staying at Hotel Golden Key was the perfect choice for my last hotel of my trip.

I absolutely fell in love with Prague the moment I arrived. Unfortunately, I was only staying 4 nights in this winter wonderland in the heart of Central Europe. And while I was pretty sad to be leaving so soon, I knew the best way to cure those blues was by staying at a wonderful hotel. Specifically, Hotel Golden Key.

The Property

Hotel Golden Key isn’t the hotel it once was. Recently renovated and restored by Asten Hotels, Hotel Golden Key is an award winning hotel in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in all of Prague. This boutique hotel has stunning views of Strahov Monastery, is steps away from the stunning Prague Castle and a ten-minute walk from the famous Charles Bridge.

But if the convenient location isn’t want draws you to staying at Hotel Golden Key, then it’s the incredible rooms and amenities. From castle view suites to five-bedroom apartments, each room is breathtaking in its own, unique way. Decorated in simple luxury, it will feel like your home away from home.

From the exceptional dining experience to the hotel’s relaxing features, this hotel is perfect for any guest whether it be business or pleasure!

The Amenities

The hotel is unforgettable, greeting you with its cheery pink and white exterior from the cobblestone street. Once I entered the large hotel lobby, I was greeted with an assortment of loose leaf teas and homemade cookies. (I definitely had more of those cookies than any guest should-they were like heaven!)

I was lucky enough to stay in the Deluxe Room which looked more like the inside of a fancy lodge than a hotel room. Perched at the highest point of the Southern half of the hotel, I had amazing views of the rooftops of Malá Strana and Strahov Monastery, one of the oldest Premonstratensian monasteries. By night, this view looked like a winter fairytale dream!

I knew I was going to have a wonderful stay when I was greeted with a delicious box of truffles and bottle of white wine on ice. This room also had the biggest bathtub ever. Within 20 minutes of checking in, I drew a scalding hot bath and took a much needed soak!

My reservation included an extensive breakfast buffet that included everything from pastries to various proteins to light juices and fruits! Perfect for a long day of exploring.

In addition to the wonderful breakfast and views, each room includes:

  • Fully stocked minibar
  • Espresso coffee machine
  • Flat screen TV
  • Complimentary Wifi
  • In-room telephone
  • Desk space
  • Laptop sized safe
  • Complimentary bathroom amenities by L’occitane
  • Incredibly plush bathrobe and slippers
  • Hairdryer

Things to Do

The great thing about the location of the hotel is you can see all of the great sites in minutes! Whether that’s the castle, the John Lennon Wall or the famous bridge, you can get an entire day’s worth of sites in just a couple of hours! Ask reception for a map and they will point you in the right direction or set you up with an appointment.

After a long day of traipsing around Prague, there’s plenty to do at Hotel Golden Key to keep you preoccupied. Call the reception desk to book the private Finnish sauna! This sauna includes a resting area with relaxing music and magazines for you to unwind and chill.

But if you need to get your sweat on, the cozy fitness room is open 24 hours and includes a treadmill, row simulator, yoga mats, free weights and exercise ball. You can enjoy your workout in the fitness room or in the beautiful hotel garden!

And if you’re pining after a picturesque cafe setting, enjoy lunch or dinner at Designum Café, located in the entrance of Hotel Golden Key. The café offers savory meals as well as plenty of desserts. Think fresh, homemade cupcakes and cheesecakes as well as traditional-Czech favorites like strudel, apricot pie and plum pie.

The Staff

My experience with the staff at Hotel Golden Key was exceptional! Despite being a small, boutique hotel, the staff was working around the clock like a chain resort (though still giving you individual attention like the boutique hotel it is).

I knew I was going to be getting all the attention I wanted when I was immediately greeted with a pot of black tea, cookies and a very warm, genuine smile.

The front desk was there around the clock and helped answer any questions I had! The receptionists helped book my massage at a spa down the street (since I obviously did not speak Czech), they set up an intimate appointment for me to enjoy the sauna, answered all of my questions and checked my incredibly heavy bags.

Staying at Hotel Golden Key was a wonderful experience and I cannot wait to go back with my husband!
