Staying at Miss Sophie’s Hotel in Prague, Czech Republic

Whether you’re a business traveler, a couple exploring the romance of Prague or a group of friends looking for the trip of a lifetime, then a stay at Miss Sophie’s Hotel should be your first stop visiting one of Europe’s best cities.

Prague was a city I had heard a lot about. Many, in fact, say that Prague is their favorite city in all of Europe.

And now I can see why.

From the charming Old Town to the delicious beer to the friendly people, there is just something magical about Prague that I can’t describe in words.

As someone who has never traveled to Prague before, starting in New Town at Miss Sophie’s Hotel was absolutely perfect. Not only did the hotel provide me with the opportunity to explore New Town, but I was able to relax and enjoy my first few nights.

The Property

Miss Sophie’s Hotel is a small, boutique hotel that offers cool luxury at a very affordable price. Miss Sophie’s Art Noveau building and intimate space is absolutely perfect for a couple looking to explore romantic Prague, a solo business traveler looking for a nice place to stay or a group of travelers looking for an unforgettable experience.

Originally created as a boutique haven for budget travelers, Miss Sophie’s was a hostel consisting of two buildings. Miss Sophie’s was the ultimate spot for solo travelers looking to make friends or large groups that needed a private apartment with all of the amenities.

Now, Miss Sophie’s consists of two buildings and two styles of accommodation: the trendy, boutique hotel on one side of the street and the chic, affordable hostel on the other side.

Miss Sophie’s Hotel is a grand building with 16 boutique rooms containing vaulted ceilings, flat screen televisions, and a considerable amount of living space. At Sophie’s Hostel you can find dorms with ensuite bathrooms and private kitchens, large apartments and hand-painted art in all bedrooms.

Located in Prague’s New Town, you’ll find several offbeat and bohemian finds around Miss Sophie’s. Or you can see some of Prague’s ultimate landmarks located in Old Town a mere 15 minute walk away.

The Amenities

I stayed at Sophie’s Hotel, the big sister to the original hostel and the more upscale property of the two. However, you’ll find everything you need at both properties.

If you’re a couple or looking for a more romantic, luxurious experience, I highly recommend Miss Sophie’s Hotel. If you are a large group looking for privacy, a solo traveler who would like kitchen access and affordability or are simply looking to cut your budget, Miss Sophie’s Hostel is perfect for you!

At Miss Sophie’s you can find the following amenities in your room:

  • Air conditioning unit in each hotel room
  • Complimentary toiletries and hair dryer
  • Rain showers in each bathroom
  • In-room safe
  • Handpicked decor designed by local businesses
  • Coffee, tea and kettle in each room
  • Mini-fridge
  • Luggage storage for day-exploring
  • Welcome basket with drinks and snacks
  • Free wifi throughout the property

Things to Do

One of the great things about hostels is the ability to make friends from around the world and Sophie’s wants to make sure you do! Located on the ground floor or the hostel building is Sophie’s Bar where you can drink anything from traditional Czech beer to cocktails alongside your fellow hotel/hostel guests.

If you’re looking for a traditional, Czech breakfast or a hearty continental one, you have unlimited options. Miss Sophie’s hosts a grand breakfast in the lobby of the hostel building on the other side of the street.

For 150 CZK, you can get your hands on a large assortment of fresh breads, ham and cheese selection, jams, granola, fruits, yoghurt, juice, tea and coffee. For 200 CZK, you can have the hot brunch buffet option which includes the tasty treats listed above  as well as freshly cooked hot items such as eggs, omelets, bacon and pancakes.

(And can I just say that the breakfast was sooo bomb? For 200 CZK, you’ll be so full you may not eat again until dinner!)

Make sure you check in with the front desk as they will give you plenty to do before your day out! With neighboring districts like posh Vinohrady or hip Vršovice, you can explore more of Prague that most tourists see in the Old Town. Although, you’ve definitely got to check out Old Town which is only 10-15 minutes away by foot!

The Staff

Never have I ever met such an outgoing and extroverted hospitality staff. From the minute I checked in to the moment I left the hotel, the staff at Miss Sophie’s Hotel matched my incredibly talkative and bubbly nature (which I love).

Miss Sophie’s Hotel provided me with everything I needed and were always available should I have any questions (the hostel building has 24 hour reception should you need anything at all).

Whether I needed peace and privacy after a long day of travel or immediate service, Miss Sophie’s did not hesitate to provide me with what I needed.

Thank you to the Miss Sophie’s Hotel for hosting me during my stay in Prague. As always, the content and opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
