Our Retreat to the Desert in The Cutest Little Casa

May was a busy month for me. This called for a relaxing staycation in La Quinta (located 45 minutes from Palm Springs). Rather than stay in a crowded hotel during Memorial Day Weekend, I decided to rent a little desert oasis I could call home with the help of Vacasa.

What is Vacasa?

Vacasa is a property rental company offering more than 5100 vacation homes in some of the most desirable vacation destinations in the United States, as well as Central and South America. Instead of staying at a crowded and over-priced hotel, Vacasa provides privately-owned homes combined with professional management. It’s like staying in your own home, but having thousands of homes at hand!

I was surprised to learn that Vacasa is the #2 vacation rental company in the U.S. And while there are some similarities between Vacasa and other rental companies, Vacasa hires local area housekeepers and property managers to ensure quality.

The Property

For Memorial Day Weekend, I decided to go on a girl’s trip with my sister and friend to La Quinta. This ended up being a great retreat as Palm Springs was basically a hot mess that Saturday and Sunday. The desert is clearly the place to be during a holiday weekend!

I was looking for proximity when deciding our location. Ultimately I landed on the Southwestern Desert Oasis as it was ADORABLE in the pictures!

Our particular property included:

  • 3 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms
  • Fully-stocked kitchen
  • Living room with TV and board games (and guitar if you feel so musically inclined)
  • Pool and jacuzzi
  • BBQ and outdoor patio
  • Washer and dryer
  • Garage access
  • Wifi

Amenities

Every Vacasa property is different, so make sure you check out what is offered at each property before renting online!

This little casa had everything we could have asked for during our weekend away! It had a fully stocked kitchen for making blended margaritas and cooked salmon. The pool was warm (even without heating it)! We nursed our hangovers with board games and TV that had cable and Netflix. We were even close to major shopping (including the Sunday Farmer’s market).

Not gonna lie, we spent most of our time by the pool enjoying watermelon margaritas.

Our Stay

Ultimately, it was one of the better staycations I ever experienced.

The neighborhood was quiet, the sun was always shining and we could come and go as we please without worrying about the safety of our belongings. It definitely felt like home instead of coming and going from a hotel.

The price tag for a 3-bedroom home with a pool in the middle of the desert can be a tad high. But if a tailored and luxurious stay with privacy is incredibly important to you, it’s worth the expense!

Thank you to Vacasa for hosting us at their property during MDW. As usual, thoughts and opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
