Vienna is a place of glamour, beauty and history. And the Ruby Marie Hotel and Bar in Vienna lives up to the city’s reputation. If you’re planning a trip to Vienna, staying at Ruby Marie Hotel might just be the best decision you make!
The Property
It’s no wonder Ruby Marie Hotel and Bar is so decadent. What was once a department store built in 1911 is now the trendy and technologically advanced Ruby Marie. Located in the heart of Vienna’s 7th district, the heart of Vienna’s creative scene, Ruby Marie brings a chic and youthful vibe to a historical part of the city.
You’ll notice plenty of greenery and tech-friendly details around the hotel. This is no accident. Ruby Marie is LEED certified, which means it’s sustainable, water efficient, uses eco-friendly energy, and uses recycled materials throughout. In addition to the hotel’s rock and roll vibes, its care towards the environment is of upmost importance adding to its trendy theme.
With simple, relaxing rooms, countless amenities and more entertainment than you could imagine, Ruby Marie Hotel and Bar is the perfect place to get away, make friends or relax.
The Amenities
As far as amenities go, the list is endless at Ruby Marie. Being a sustainable, eco-friendly and entertaining property means you will have a lot to keep you preoccupied (and happy).
Upon first checking in, we were greeted with an electronic, self check-in system! All I had to do was put my name and information in and my room key was printed out from a small slot. We were a tad early, so we checked our luggage and enjoyed our afternoon around the city.
And the food! With such an abundance of food options for guests, you’ll never go hungry. Ruby Marie has a 24/7 Bar & Café with snacks and drinks, an organic breakfast buffet, and a 24/7 Galley on almost every floor with free hot drinks and snacks from a vending machine.
We stayed in the hotel’s famous “Girls’s Room.” It was everything I could have wanted (and needed) when preparing for a night out to the opera. This room had a mannequin for my dress, original Vogue magazines, a gold-colored pearl wallpaper and a 50’s style dressing table with a matching white vintage stool. Since I was staying with my brother-in-law, it was perfect getaway space to gussy up and put those horrible fake lashes on.

Whether you’re here for a staycation or looking to relax during your trip to Vienna, Ruby Marie will make it almost impossible to leave the hotel. Mostly because of the endless things to do!
Feel like rocking out? Make your very own music with one of Ruby Marie’s complimentary guitars you can check out for an afternoon! You can practice in your soundproof room where you’ll find your very own amp.
If getting your zen on is something you need daily, enjoy the meditation and yoga space. But if group yoga is more your thing, Ruby Marie will occasionally host yoga events on their rooftop terrace! Breaking a sweat is also possible at the Körperstadt gym in the near vicinity with discounted tickets for hotel guests.
Looking to get some work in? If you’re a blogger on the go or simply a a busy entrepreneur who needs to constantly keep in touch, you have full access to the hotel’s workspace. The business center is equipped with a desk with plenty of room (and quiet) to work. If you want to simply enjoy some peace while you read, head over to the hotel’s library and galley.
The most impressive appeal to staying at Ruby Marie is the movie lounge. With ample space, and a swinging 60’s vibe, this lounge seats 25 people for both classic and unknown movies. And no movie-going experience is complete without snacks! The lounge contains vintage sideboard for your drinks and a vending machine with snacks complete the cinema experience.
Like I said, there’s A LOT happening at Ruby Marie Hotel and Bar.
Of course traipsing around historical Vienna is an absolute must while you’re in town and Ruby Marie makes it easier. Rent one of the property’s bikes for an afternoon around the city and make sure to check out their city guide on your tablet in your room!
The Staff
This boutique hotel comes with a unique self check-in option, making it easier for guests to get to their hotel in peace and privacy. Naturally, I had to utilize this feature.
Therefore, most of your experience with the staff will occur while you’re enjoying one of their events, having a cocktail at the bar or getting advice as to where to visit.
However I will say that while my time with the staff was limited, it was an incredible experience.
It’s no surprise I had left my camera charger at a previous hotel. And of course, I panicked. The staff was very helpful making sure that I got it back by helping me call the previous hotel and writing me a note while I was out and about. They also answered all of my questions and provided wonderful service at breakfast.
