Staying at The Inn at The Cove in Pismo Beach, California

Pismo Beach is a cozy, little beach town in Central California where many lovers escape from the chaotic city for a little peace and quiet. And that’s just what we did when staying at the Inn at the Cove for Valentine’s Day.

After two weeks of solo travel through Europe, I was excited to come home and see my husband. It was also perfect timing as Valentine’s Day was the following week.

We knew we wanted to visit Pismo Beach since we had been there many times with my family. It was secluded, romantic, and the weather was usually wonderful in February. So when we had a chance to celebrate our love at The Inn at the Cove right on the coast of Pismo Beach, we were stoked!

The Property

The Inn at the Cove is quite the hidden secret, lying just along the ocean bluffs and coves of Pismo Beach, halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. The spacious rooms at the inn offer panoramic views from your balcony or patio that make the most romantic view at sunset. Tour along the property’s pathways to discover fantastic views of the cove or wander down the staircase to find a private entryway to the beach itself. (Unfortunately, construction of the steps meant no traipsing the beach for us.)

As a 4-star rated hotel, you’ll find 52 newly renovated guest rooms with incredible views at an extremely affordable price.  The Inn at the Cove has also implemented various water conservation measures, invites your furry friends over to stay and offers beautiful views of the Pismo coast all year round.

We were drawn to the inn mostly for its views, but also for its proximity to everything Pismo Beach has to offer. The Inn at the Cove is right in the center of it all! We were close to the the pier, the town’s best dining and some of the best wineries in all of California were nearby!

The Amenities

Our romantic getaway took place in the oceanfront king upper level room with 180-degree views from a private balcony, an incredibly spacious room and vaulted ceilings. We were also delighted to receive a welcome basket of snacks, drinks and everything to know about Pismo Beach. Kevin and I were very impressed with the high ceilings, but our delight really came from the balcony. Walking out at sunset to witness the beautiful Pacific Ocean right over the bluffs was truly stunning.

Guests are welcome to complimentary breakfast which includes your standard continental like fresh bagels, eggs, yogurt, juice and waffles straight from AN AWESOME WAFFLE MAKER! I was so excited to try this bad boy out, I had about 3 waffles covered in strawberries and whipped cream.

And in case we wanted to get a taste of the local life, there was a calendar highlighting local events in Pismo Beach! From tourist attractions to music nights, there was an event just about every night.

No matter which room you choose to call home for a couple of nights, you can also expect:

  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
  • Complimentary self-parking
  • Electric Car Charging Station
  • In-room refrigerator, microwave and coffee
  • Complimentary Bath & Body Works toiletries
  • Comfy, plush bathrobes
  • Flat screen TV with digital cable
  • In-room work space
  • Binoculars for sightseeing

Things to Do

If you ran off to Pismo for a full spa experience, you can get just that at The Inn at the Cove. Enjoy intimate, in-room spa services, like mani-pedis, massages and facials. Perfect to allow you some R&R without having to leave the privacy of your own room.

Active hotel guests can enjoy a game of tennis at the clay tennis courts or soak up some sun at their oceanfront pool and spa. And then of course there’s the private beach. (My husband and I mostly enjoyed the beautiful walks along the coast as well as from our hotel room).

The hotel also provides an extensive list of things to do in the area. From exciting activities like horseback riding and wine tasting to some of the greatest dining spots in town, they will point you in the right direction.

The Staff

This is one of those hotel reviews where I don’t have much to say about the staff. It wasn’t because I didn’t like them or felt they weren’t present. Indeed, the staff was attentive, gracious and polite (especially the young man at breakfast. Seriously, that guy deserves a kindness award).

But mostly because they left us alone (wink, wink).

They knew it was Valentine’s Day. They knew why we were there. So we enjoyed our romantic getaway in peace and quiet. But I was incredibly thankful for the wonderful service I received at breakfast and from the front desk on two separate occasions.

But isn’t that the best kind of service, anyway?
